This tech giant has announced that its Google Maps will now label healthcare facilities that are verified as offering reproductive services to women as “provides abortions” and those so-called “crisis pregnancy centers” that do not as “might not provide abortions.”  A Bloomberg News study showed that online searches by women seeking abortion services often lead them to facilities that not only do not provide pregnancy terminations but also try to dissuade them from doing so.  To preserve privacy, Google is also automatically deleting the searcher’s location data when a user launches sensitive searches such as those for abortion services.
