Howard G. Smith, M.D. is a former radio medical editor and talk show host in the Boston Metro area. The FDA and Lyons Magnus LLC now recall variously branded and flavored drinks.  These include: Lyons Ready Care Dairy and Nutritional Drinks; Lyons Barista Style beverages; Pirq chocolate, vanilla, caramel and strawberry drinks; Lucerna chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry drinks, Aloha protein drinks, Intelligentsia coffee and oat latte; Kate Farms pediatric vanilla, Oatly oat milk barista; Premier Protein chocolate, vanilla, and cafe latte drinks, MRE protein shakes; Stumptown cold brew coffees; and Imperial nutritional and dairy drinks.  These products are contaminated with Cronobacter sakazakii.  This bacterium causes bacterial infections manifest by fever, vomiting, and urinary tract infections particularly in frail or immunocompromised persons.  If you have any of these products, don’t consume them and return them to the place of purchase for a refund.  For more information, call the Lyons Recall Support Center at 1-800-627-0557.
